Other Loves contains 64 computational images, not actual photographs, laid out over 64 xeroxed pages. Its title is printed in black latex paint onto its translucent vellum cover using a hand-carved linoleum block. This zine is saddle-stitched, signed at the back, and measures 4.75 inches square.
Other Loves is a part of Rodell Warner's Artificial Archive: Carnival Fictions series which also contains his Monday Mas and Tuesday Mas zines.
Artificial Archive imagines an alternate version of the early photographic record of the Caribbean in which the photographs of the African and Asian Caribbean people we see were made by their own hands, seen through their own perspectives, and are nowhere near as limited in what they depict as the actual photos that came out of that period of our history. Images in Artificial Archive imagine and foreground the personal and the intimate - facets of these peoplesβ lives that we are deprived of in real life as they were not captured historically.
